Ross Fisher, MD, Chief Medical Officer

Ross Fisher is a native of Oklahoma graduating from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and completing his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. He has been certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and awarded the distinction of Fellowship in the American College of Physicians. He has accumulated the wisdom and experience of over three decades of adult and geriatric primary care, with expertise in managing complex chronic disease in the outpatient setting.
He now joins South Central Medical and Resource Center to serve as Chief Medical Officer, with a mission to enhance clinical management and continuing education for our clinic’s medical staff, as well as to grow patient access to primary care in the south-central Oklahoma region. He successfully operated a solo practice of general internal medicine, managing patients in the hospital and outpatient private practice in Edmond for 18 years. He was elected by the medical staff at Edmond Regional Medical Center to serve as Chair of the Department of Medicine and subsequently as Chief of Staff. He also has worked with SSM Health Saint Anthony in Oklahoma City, Physician House calls and CareFirst Wellness Associates in Chickasha and Pauls Valley, providing outpatient adult primary care in a variety of settings. He has also worked for the State of Oklahoma Department of Corrections, providing care to the most medically complex patients across the state, culminating in being appointed to serve as the Chief Medical Officer overseeing medical, dental and behavioral health care across the agency. He has served as a voluntary Clinical Assistant Professor for the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
His training and experience make him particularly well suited to manage adult and geriatric patients with multiple coexistent chronic diseases and their associated complex needs and medication requirements. Internal medicine physicians are experts in the use of medications to manage chronic conditions. Preventing, minimizing, or slowing progressive deterioration in your health from underlying chronic disease is the primary objective of the internal medicine specialist. Compassion, competence, honesty and integrity direct his patient care.
